After School Youth Development Professional (YDP) 
Class: Non-Exempt, Part Time
Hourly Rate: $11.00/hour; $11.50/hour for high school YDPs
Hours: 20-25 hours/week; M-F 2:00-6:00pm, W 1:00-6:00pm (subs work 3 days/week)
Location: One of BGCGG’s various school sites
Start Date: August 15, 2017
Job Summary: Work with elementary, intermediate, or high school aged youth, at After School Program sites to develop program curriculum, activities, and clubs, implement programs, provide homework assistance, manage classroom behavior, and supervise members during programming (20:1 ratio). Serve as a positive role model for youth and establish meaningful relationships that will encourage and motivate youth participation, while abiding by BGCGG and GGUSD guidelines.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Develop a monthly calendar of activities and clubs according to program guidelines using 5 Core Areas, member feedback and organization quality standards
Demonstrate leadership to ensure conduct, safety, and development of members and perform as a positive role model for youth and peers 
Engage and support members’ hands-on experience with enriching activities 
Ensure members participate in a variety of program activities; utilize and maintain resources effectively
Ensure members are recognized with positive reinforcement; implement behavior strategies and classroom management systems
Apply behavior management techniques when dealing with member discipline
Acceptable physical contact with members consists of high fives, handshakes, and knuckles 
Communicate all pertinent program information with supervisor
Complete assigned tasks and performs responsibilities in a timely manner while being adaptable and flexible 
Maintain an orderly and clean area as well as respects school property; ensures program areas are safe, well ventilated and lit
Uphold organization’s mission and values, as well as develop positive relationships and abide by boundaries established by BGCGG
Additional Duties & Responsibilities
Build rapport with team, school personnel, members, and families
Maintain a collaborative, cooperative, and healthy work environment
Demonstrate effective problem solving methods and adept at conflict resolution
Respond to all forms of communication in a timely manner
Use effective communication and maintain a professional tone in written, verbal, and non-verbal communication consistently with staff members, volunteers, school personnel, parents and all community stakeholders
Attend staff meetings, trainings, and field trips as needed; assist with special events, family nights, or other celebrations
Qualifications & Requirements 
High school diploma or equivalent; must have at least 48 college units to work with high school students
Must be at least 21 years of age to work with intermediate or high school students
Childcare and youth development experience preferred; bilingual capabilities a plus
Business and customer service experience an asset
Must clear the applicant screening process, Staff Instructional Exam, interview(s), and background check 
Position requires standing for extended periods of time; position may require sitting for extended periods of time, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate office equipment, reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally, bending at the waist; seeing to review and analyze reports, documents or other reports; hearing and speaking to communicate and provide information to others; speaking to be heard before groups of people; position may require to lift, carry, pull or otherwise move objects up to 20 pounds
