Equity Statement & Resources

EQUITY STATEMENT

At Boys & Girls Clubs of Garden Grove, we provide inclusive environments where youth of all races, abilities, gender expression, gender identity, sexual orientation, and backgrounds are encouraged to be themselves and deepen their understanding of and respect for others. Our mission, to enable all young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens is at the forefront of everything we do. We are collectively committed to finding solutions together and taking bold action to ensure that everyone, including Club youth, staff, families, board members, volunteers, and community partners work together in creating positive change, celebrating what makes us unique, and through our work, championing a culture of equity that empowers a just, inclusive, and equitable organization.

Through leadership and enrichment programs, we encourage our youth and staff to elevate their voices on critical issues and work together to create positive change and envision a better tomorrow.

We continuously evaluate and update policies, procedures, job descriptions, trainings, and resources to support diversity, equity, and inclusion at all levels of the organization and serve as supportive allies for youth, teens, and staff.

We offer inclusive, culturally relevant and appropriate programs, services, and resources that help nurture a sense of belonging that will carry to adulthood.

Club leadership works with community partners to ensure we have the tools and resources we need to maintain a healthy, productive, and supportive environment for staff, volunteers, and those we serve.

CULTURAL EQUITY

Cultural equity embodies the values, policies, and practices that ensure that all people —including but not limited to those who have been historically underrepresented based on race/ethnicity, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, gender expression, socioeconomic status, geography, citizenship status, or religion—are represented in the development and implementation of youth programs; the fair financial and supervisory support of staff; and the leadership of the organization.

MISSION

Our mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
